It has been said that without Waco, there wouldn’t have been the Oklahoma City bombing. I visited the Waco site over Christmas break.

The Boundary Waters: A Special Place You Gotta Go!
There are some wilderness areas that have “It.” And I’m not really sure what that “It” is. But these special places have some sort of undefinable combination of stunning scenic beauty, wildness and a natural connection I feel with nature.

As day hikes go, the 8.7 mile-long Trail of Ten Falls/Canyon Trail, ranks very highly in my personal list of favorite dayhikes and “Hikes I would Do Again at the Drop of a Hat.” The trail is located at Oregon’s Silver Falls State Park.

…even the lousy weather can’t change the beauty of this mountain range. It’s all worth it, when I come over a ridge and can look at all the trees and mountains. The mountains are so beautiful in the mornings, I usually get up early just to watch the sunrise. The air is usually pine-scented. Walking through the forest is like walking through a cathedral. Underfoot, there is a thick carpet of pine needles, which muffles my foot steps. I have walked right up on several herds of deer, just because I was so quiet. I’m really glad to be out here.
